Lee Leads Latest Fundraising Round in San Leandro District 4 Race

San Leandro City Council candidate Benny Lee raised the most of the District 4 candidates, reporting contributions of $3,625 during the most recent reporting period. Most of that total, $2,500, came from a single contribution from the San Leandro Police Officers Association. Chris Crow reported $2,215 in contributions and Darlene Daevu reported $1,650 in contributions from two sources.

To date, Crow has the fundraising lead with $6,720 in contributions, followed by Daevu with $5,948 and Lee with $5,913. However, after adding in the loans to each of the campaigns, Lee ($12,000 loan) leads the field over Daevu ($7,500 loan) and Crow ($3,177 in loans).

Justin Hutchison has filed a form stating that he will not raise nor spend more than $1,000 during the campaign and therefore does not have to file campaign finance disclosure reports.

There are no campaign contribution limits in San Leandro, so individuals and businesses may contribute any amount of money to local campaigns. Donations of $99 or less do not have to be itemized, but candidates are required to report the source of any donation of $100 or more.

Pre-election campaign statements for current City Council candidates were due October 25, 2012, for the reporting period October 1 to October 20 and are summarized below. This is the last reporting deadline prior to the election. Only contributions of $1,000 of more are required to be reported between October 21 and the November 6 election.
