Dead Male Found in San Leandro Creek on Sunday, October 17

According to updated information from the San Leandro Police, a deceased male was discovered in San Leandro Creek at approximately 6:15pm on Sunday, October, 17, 2010. The body was observed in the area of San Leandro Creek near Memorial Park and was reported to police by two residents who had been out for a walk. The victim, possibly a transient, was pronounced dead at the scene by Alameda County Fire Department personnel. San Leandro Police originally suspected foul play, but police now are leaning away from homicide, according to San Leandro Police Chief Ian Willis. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. If you have any information about the victim, please contact the San Leandro Police Department at (510) 577-2740.

Update, 10/18 at 8:54am: According to a posting on a homeowner association mailing list, the victim was a male in his 20s or 30s.
