Work Begins on New High School Parking Lot

Construction begins at new high school parking lot

Although the official groundbreaking won't happen until Thursday, work has already started on transforming an undeveloped field into parking spaces for San Leandro High School. The parking lot is a key part of the new construction funded by Measure B, a $109 million bond passed in November 2006. In order to make room for an arts education center with a 550-seat theater, the current high school parking lot is being moved to an adjacent lot south of the high school. The site of the new parking lot is currently vacant except for towers used to carry high-voltage power lines for Pacific Gas & Electric.
