The second Town Hall meeting on the fate of the boat harbor at the Marina will be held on July 19, 2007, starting at 7 pm at the Marina Community Center.
At the previous Town Hall held on May 24, 2007, about 150 people were divided into six groups to discuss how to address the annual $2 million harbor deficit, necessary improvements, the future of the Marina Shoreline Area, and new land uses, water-related uses, and open space/recreation uses that should be considered.
The City has been unable to come up with the funds needed for ongoing dredging at the Marina and larger boats are now having problems getting to and from the San Francisco Bay from the Marina. The City invites those interested to "Come and learn about the challenges facing the San Leandro harbor and the options being evaluated for its future. Share your ideas, concerns and questions."
Details of previous Marina Committee meetings and presentations from those meetings are available at the web site for the Marina Committee.
The Marina Community Center is located at 15301 Wicks Boulevard.
