Housing Community Forum at 7pm on Tuesday, June 19, 2007

On Tuesday, June 19, 2007, the Congregations Organizing for Renewal (COR) will hold a community forum on housing at 7pm at St. Leander Church Hall. In an op-ed in the Daily Review, Dennis Davis, a deacon at St. Leander Parish for 25 years, writes that the purpose of the forum is to "ensure that the plan [Downtown Transit-Oriented Development Strategy] includes a range of housing for San Leandro's families." Davis notes that the average family of four cannot afford $550,000 for a median-priced home in San Leandro.

According to its former website, "COR is a faith-based, grassroots community organization made up of fourteen congregations in Hayward, San Lorenzo, San Leandro, Union City, and Fremont." COR seeks "to improve neighborhoods, schools, access to health care, and access to affordable housing."

St. Leander Church Hall is located at 575 W. Estudillo Avenue in San Leandro.
