2007 San Leandro Cherry Festival Schedule and Map (June 9, 2007)

The Cherry Festival is scheduled for 10am to 5pm on Saturday, June 9, 2007. Admission is free. The listing for the San Leandro Municipal Band at 9:30am may be a typo since other stage activities begin at 10:30am.

Activities at the Cherry Festival:

Cherry Pie Bake-Off
The Cherry Pie Bake-off will bring together contestants and their sweet cherry treats in two different categories: Traditional and Non-traditional. All cherry enthusiasts, from beginning bakers to the most experienced, are invited to submit an entry. No need to preregister. Cherry pies and their recipes must be submitted to the Cherry Store between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Winners will be announced on the Main Stage at 2 p.m.

Free Valet Bike Parking
Free valet bike parking will be available through the Cherry City Cyclists on the St. Leanders play yard on the corner of Davis and Carpentier streets. Reduce traffic and help the environment by cycling or walking to the festival.

Casa Peralta and History Museum
The Casa Peralta, History Museum and Art Gallery will be open for tours during the Cherry Festival. Children’s old fashioned activities will begin at 10:30 a.m. on the Casa grounds.

Kids Zone
Games and rides include the Dune Buggy, Tea Cup, Jumping Star, a Rock Climbing Wall and Bounce Houses. Face Painting & Glitter Tattoos too!

Arts & Crafts
25 arts and crafts vendors will be on-hand, with products ranging from handcrafted jewelry to custom-drawn caricatures.

Community Resources
25 community resource vendors will offer information on important community-related topics.

ARTeam
This year's Cherry Festival offers something new – the Artist’s Village, hosted by the recently formed Art Village Resource Team sponsored by the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce. The Artist’s Village will present the work of fourteen local artists through beautiful displays and live demonstrations of glassworking, ceramics and other art media.

Cherry Lane
Cherry Lane will showcase of City of San Leandro government services. Kids can hop on board a real police motorcycle or meet the Chief of Police. Fire prevention tips will be offered by the Alameda County Fire Department, and the Public Works department will be conducting a thermometer exchange, where attendees can exchange their mercury thermometers for new digital models.

Cherry Store
The Cherry Store will feature specialty cherry items such as: Cherry Jam, Cherry Salsa, Cherry BBQ Sauce, Sweet Cherry Balsamic Vinegar, Cherry Gumballs, Cherry Sour Patches, Wild Cherry Tea, Cherry Biscotti, 2007 Cherry Festival T-shirts and 2007 Cherry Festival mugs. Farmer’s Market
Cherries and a wide variety of local, fresh fruit will be available for purchase.

Food
Festival favorites from BBQ ribs and corn dogs to funnel cake and kettle corn. The Englander Restaurant will provide Cherry Beer and Sausage and Robeks Juice will also be offered as just a few of the favorites.
