Film Screening on May 3: Motherhood Manifesto

On Thursday May 3, 2007, at 7pm, the San Leandro Community Action Network will show Motherhood Manifesto, the latest in its monthly film series.

SLCAN invites everyone to connect with community, participate in stimulating discussion, and learn more about important social and political issues at SLCAN’s monthly film series.

The film will be shown at Zocalo Coffeehouse, located at 645 Bancroft Ave. in San Leandro.

"Celebrate Mother’s Day early and see what happens to working mothers and families in America and what we can do to make paid family leave, flexible working hours, part-time parity, universal healthcare, excellent childcare, after-school programs, and realistic living wages a reality for American families." http://www.momsrising.org

Imagine a beautifully presented long chain of decorated baby onesies stretching all around your state capital as a visual representation of the real people who need the policies being debated inside the imposing buildings. Each onesie signifies one person--mother, father, child, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, or other--who cares deeply about building a family-friendly America, but can't take the time off work, or away from kids, to actually be at the capital. You.

* Bring a new or used baby onesie (or a small kids t-shirt) and we'll decorate them after the screening.

* Can't make the screening? You can buy a ONEsie online, and MomsRising will decorate it for you and add it to the project. https://secure.democracyinaction.org/dia/organizations/momsrising/shop/custom.jsp?donate_page_KEY=2305

One by ONEsie, working together, we can show the nation that we are a creative and powerful force for good family policy, as well as help our politicians to pay attention to issues which have long been ignored. Let's make San Leandro a visible part of the Power of ONEsie action!
