ATF Planning to Revoke Trader Sports' License

The Associated Press is reporting that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is planning to revoke Trader Sports' license on June 1, 2006.

The ATF reportedly wants to revoke Trader Sports' license because of repeated inventory and sales violations over the past five years. The ATF claims that Trader Sports is unable account for 1,766 weapons in its inventory.

Trader Sports is one of Northern California's largest gun shops and, according to a 2004 report, sold 3,858 handguns in 2000.

Trader Sports also gained notoriety when Senator Dianne Feinstein singled it out for criticsm in a press release issued June 17, 2003.
