Open House This Weekend at San Leandro Historical Railway Society

The San Leandro Historical Railway Society will hold an open house on Saturday June 11, 2005 from 10am to 5pm and Sunday, June 12, 2005, from 12pm to 5pm.

The San Leandro Historical Railway Society features HO scale trains running through mountains and miniature California towns with a controller that can be used to automate the trains and add sound effects.

The San Leandro Historical Railway Society is located in an old Southern Pacific Railroad passenger depot that was built in 1898 and was used until World War II, when the Southern Pacific passenger agency was no longer deemed essential.

The open house typically coincides with the annual Cherry Festival, but the Cherry Festival was cancelled this year because of city budget cuts.
