Among the outpouring of donations to victims of the tsunami, our own local Zocalo Coffeehouse gave a day's worth of revenue and placed a donation jar on the counter. The donations will be given to Oxfam's Asia Earthquake Fund. According to the Zocalo web page, the total amount from Zocalo and its customers is approaching $1000. Kudos to Zocalo owner Tim Holmes and his good press connections, because he is also featured in a San Francisco Chronicle article about donations for the tsunami victims.

Turns out one of the editors is a regular and saw the sign, when the request came from the reporter for local businesses donating, Zocalo was sent as a suggestion.
I like chalk it up to serving good coffee.

Well that's even better!
It's nice to see public recognition for a business that is doing good things.
