Sheriff's Deputy Shoots Suspect Who Points Gun At Him

An Alameda County Sheriff's Deputy riding his motorcycle at about 10:40pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2004, heard what he thought were gunshots and stopped to investigate. He found a shooting victim near the intersection of 164th Avenue and Gordon Way in unicorporated San Leandro and a suspect with a gun nearby. When he tried to apprehend the suspect, the suspect reportedly pointed the gun at the deputy and the deputy shot the suspect. The original shooting victim and the suspect were treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
